Post #9. Get Into The Arena

I’ll start off this post with this, magnificent quote by Theodore Roosevelt

“It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood; who strives valiantly; who errs, who comes short again and again, because there is no effort without error and shortcoming; but who does actually strive to do the deeds; who knows great enthusiasms, the great devotions; who spends himself in a worthy cause; who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement, and who at the worst, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who neither know victory nor defeat.”

There is so much in this quote…

So much Wisdom…

Audacity…

Truth…

But hey…. I want to ask you a candid question here…

Are you in The Arena? Honestly.

Are you in The Arena mr. Roosevelt is describing?

Are you taking action?

Are you having the courage to run towards you boldest dreams?

Are you willing to be uncomfortable?

Are you taking action?

Are you showing up?

Are you contributing?

Are you failing?… Falling short?… Getting honest feedback by life…?

Are you learning?

Are you growing?

Or…

Are you sitting… as a safe, comfortable spectator… looking at the people fighting in the Arena?

I used to be the guy who sat and watched youtube clip after youtube clip, in search of something…

Inspiration… Motivation… More advice… More ideas… More information…

But what I was not recognising is that… I was a spectator of the people in the Arena… And finally I had it… I knew what I had to do…

My guess is that you also, deep in your heart, know what that looks like to you…

The Promises of The Arena:
* Here you may grow
* Here you may inspire
* Here you may learn
* Here you may truly live

And yes: 
* Here you may feel scared
* Here you may be unsure
* Here you may need to ask for help
* Here you may suffer

But is it worth it?

Is it really worth it?

You may ask me… Is it really worth it…?

– Is it really worth it… To wake up earlier than you really need to, in order to develop yourself, study & live your dream?

– Is it really worth it… To do the workout even if you feel tired to the point of tears?

– Is it really worth it… To give up the addiction to processed food, social media & other peoples expectations of the kind of life you should be living?

– Is it really worth it… To get out there and try your very best at life…?

But may I ask you… With all respect… Is it really worth it…

– to sleep in those extra hours…?

– to skip that exercise because you don’t feel like it…?

– to give in to the temptations you know doesn’t feed the noblest parts of your soul…?

– to be a spectator in life…?

Really… it’s ok if you choose this… but I want you to really consider if this is what you set out to do… and if you desire the circumstances where this behaviour might take you…

Please make a choice today… to step into the arena… Take a deep breath. You are ready…
Just start small, with the little things in life… Start by asking yourself what you really… I mean really want in life… And act upon it… Don’t talk too much about the changes you’re going to do, just do it… Time will show the strength of character you gain from it.

And on any occasion, you can ask yourself: Am I in The Arena now? Am I in my safety zone or in my growth zone?

Stand by your decision. And know that the Arena will change form and shape… But it will always be the place that scare you…
